Kay Dixon-Bell, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, BSN, RN, is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner credentialed across the lifespan by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She provides both in-person and telehealth services, offering comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management for adults and older adults experiencing mental health disorders. Kay works collaboratively with a team of providers, and certified therapists to deliver compassionate, evidence-based, and holistic mental health care.
Nursing has always been Kay’s passion. She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Columbus State Community College in 1994, followed by her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Education, and Doctorate in Nursing Education from Mount Carmel College of Nursing. Prior to completing her Doctoral degree, she earned her Post-Certificate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Cincinnati.
Before becoming a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, Kay built a diverse and accomplished nursing career that included owning and operating a home health care agency for 16 years, as well as an assisted living facility. During that time, she worked closely with numerous state and federal organizations to provide care for individuals with mental health conditions, developmental disabilities, and elder care needs. Her extensive clinical background also includes inpatient mental health services, hospice care, assisted living leadership, clinical education, academia, orthopedics, and surgical services.
Her passion for both nursing and education has provided her with the opportunity to mentor and educate nursing students in both traditional and second-degree programs as an adjunct instructor and full-time assistant professor. Most recently, she serves as Lead Faculty and Associate Professor for a local college of nursing’s Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program.
