Taking the first step toward therapy can feel scary or overwhelming, and Angela’s goal is to make that process feel as comfortable, supportive, and safe as possible. She believes that while life can be challenging, everyone deserves the opportunity to feel happy, balanced, and thriving. She is here to support you through life’s ups and downs and to help you work toward becoming the healthiest and most authentic version of yourself.
Angela is a Licensed Social Worker with over 14 years of experience working in a variety of settings and with individuals across the lifespan, from birth through older adulthood. While she has a special connection with children and adolescents, she truly enjoys working with clients of all ages and backgrounds. She approaches therapy with compassion, curiosity, and respect for each person’s unique experiences and goals.
Angela has experience supporting individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, and LGBTQIA+-related concerns. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and play therapy. She tailors treatment to meet each client’s individual needs, recognizing that therapy is not one-size-fits-all and that meaningful change happens through collaboration and trust. Angela looks forward to the opportunity to walk alongside you as you begin or continue your therapeutic journey.
Angela Smith-Misja receives supervision from Dr. Jordan Allison (OH license #P.7469) and Billie Gilliam. For more about what supervision is, the purpose of it, and your provider’s supervisors, please refer to our supervision page.
